How do I adopt my nepew?

My sister is a young mother who is struggleing and has asked me to consider adopting the 2 month old. I have no clue what to do or where to begin. I am concerned about her partying all the time and starting the drugs again, but no harm has been done to the baby. My sister does live with our mother so I know that someone is responsable.

I would contact an attorney to see if you can get temporary custody without involving social services, that's if you want to and are capable of taking care of her child. I would leave out the drug part. I wouldn't adopt because your sister will most likely come around (grow up) and she'll want custody back. For the sake of the child alone I would just do temp. custody. Stop by planned parenthood and see if they have some numbers for you.

Hey what we did you can get a note signed by a Local Notary Republic saying that she is giving you custody and then takew it from their. If this is not possible go to the local court house and ask some question or child services. Trust me they will help you because the state wants the child to be well taken care of at ALL cost!!
