How do I air condition a room that has windows 20'x44'' and open out?

  1. If you want to use a window unit, you need to take out one pane of glass. You measure a sheet of plywood the same size as the space the window once occupied. You cut a hole in the plywood to mount the AC unit. Then secure it to the window frame with wood and long screws. Then you paint it and make it match the rest of the room.

  2. the good news for you is that there are now portable airconditioners that do not need to be mounted from the windows. They sit on the floor and are wheeled about.

    the hot air exhaust is expelled from the room via a 5'' flexible hose out the window. Check out some websites and you will see what I am talking about. (ie.- in computereze this is talking not writing).

  3. we have a bay window. we cut a hole in the wall beneath the window & installed the airconditioner there. my parents had there one section of window removed, installed the a/c then filled in above the a/c with a pieceof plexiglass
