How do I analyse an artists work? ?

Not one particular piece of artwork but an overall sort of thing. Namely, Quentin Blake, who did the illustrations for the Roald Dahl books. Thanks in advance.

You could start by analysing the media he works in, then go on to talk about his unusual figurative style, how he uses his media (ink and wash) to convey emotion and subtly communicate character (look at the different types of line he uses for nasty characters and nice ones!). You could also find some earlier examples of his work and compare them with later ones, to see how his style has developed over the years.

    He's really a fascinating subject and one of my favourite illustrators! Good luck.
