  1. Ask at the ticket office. Little chance with TFL but many national rail companies will give a partial refund if you've been delayed over 1 hour.

This is why severely delayed trains are juggled around and resignalled so that they arrive just under an hour late.

This very often means signalling a slow train in front of a fast train, which of course ends up delaying both trains (and other trains on the line, and the later services those trains were going to form).

But as long as none of the trains is over an hour late, the train firm doesn't have to pay up ;-)

    So that's all right then.

  2. Refunds from TfL are relatively easy to obtain under the customer charter scheme. Either visit the link below or collect a refund form from any Tube station. They are usually on display inside the entrance, or from ticket offices. Terms and conditions apply, but generally you can claim back the equivalent cost of a single journey if your journey was delayed by more than fifteen minutes. For National Rail, you will need to contact the company concerned.

  3. Please try website www.traindelays.co.uk - sign up with them and they will assist you with compensation.  You are entitled to compensation for cancellation and delays.

    Good luck.
