How do I arrange multiple stamps on a mail?

I'm sending my friend a letter with a candy, I want to add three stamps to cover postage, can I do this? How do I arrange them? Or do I have to actually go to the post office and buy the postage?? (not preferred.)

Put the stamps in the upper right corner.  Be sure all the denominations are visible.  Be sure the stamps don't cover the addresses.
