How do I attract people walk up the stairs to my restaurant?

I am opening a restaurant that is located on the first floor (15 stairs form the ground), and the street I'm on has lots of foot traffic.

How can I make the upstairs appealing to the walk-in crowd?

  1. Put up a very attractive sign

and get someone to give out broshers

  2. Make sure the food you serve is the best around.  Word of mouth is great advertising.

  3. HI put attractive plants up the steps to draw eyes upward.  Post a sign with you menu on it

helium balloons during grand opening would be a wonderful idea.  Good luck

  4. Bright lights and neutral color paint on the walk up, plus somebody on the walk holding a sign with your restaurants name on it, and a handful of menus and or coupons to hand out to those passing by.

I have hired sign holders for some major retail outlets, usually college students, and pay them in cash, $10 bucks an hour for a 5 hour shift.

This works great for Kmart, it should also work for you.

    Good luck

  5. use signs..or put one of those little sign stands by the sidewalk that little kids like walking under.lol..make signs or arrows with words going all the way up the stairs up to the door

  6. wrap white lights around the banisters, put some potted palms on either side of bottom steps, and a podium with your menu by the plants.

  7. Put neon signs up advertising your resturant. Good luck with your new business!

  8. You need a street sign on the sidewalk with an appealing menu list of specials

  9. Put paper menus out the front, so people who live nearby can take them home and have a look as well as people walking down the street looking for some dinner. This allows them to keep looking back at your menu. I live on a busy main street and we always collect menus.

  10. look into feng shui

  11. Can you paint the stairs???  Depending on what kind of restaurant it is, something like painting the stairs or the railing a bright or contrasting color(s) may catch people's attention...

Just a thought.  When you are upstairs or downstairs, it can be hard to draw attention to your entry and to your business. Try to be creative.

Definetly a sign, a sandwhich board of some type, maybe?  Daily specials (for a good price) always helps!  :-)
