Question:

How do I avoid or switch off their holiday talk?

Its that time of year when my work colleagues are talking about their holidays (mostly where they are going). As this is the 6th consecutive year I haven't been able to afford a decent holiday, I am finding it very difficult to be rminded of that fact. Failing getting out my chair (which would look really obvious after a while) I don't know how to avoid it. Any ideas.

  1. Step right in and change the subject. I know only too well what it's like to be surrounded by talk that is annoying. Do they know you won't be going away anywhere? If they do, they are pretty mean.

  2. Well introduce some other line of discussion to them and change the topic.

  3. You need to just speak out and change the subject, or just have a word to them individually and say it isn't really fair that they talk about it all the time and you can't have a holiday. It's always difficult when the people around you are having a conversation and you can't join in. Or you could always talk about where you would like to go if you could afford it?
