  1. I'll start with the basics, remember if you're talking about Spec Ops operators, its always SEALs, if you're talking about the aquatic mammals, its seals. To start you off, join a swimming team, or join an swimming class at your nearby sports complex. Next join a cross country team, not a track team, you're looking for endurance not speed. Since you're still in school, some good courses to take for a "pollywog" are chemistry and physics, SEAL recruiters don't care much about your high school GPA but these courses will help you when it comes to the mechanical side of the SEALs work. Since you're 17, I suggest you start working out NOW, most SEAL candidates who end up making it through BUD/S work out for up to a year before enlisting. Great exercise programs to follow that will definitely get you where you need to be for BUD/S are the BUD/S Warning Order and Stew Smiths Guide. Once you've graduated and think you're in great enough shape, enlist in the Navy through the DEP-Delayed Entry Program, this will give you time to work out some more(in the SEALs theres no such thing as having worked out TOO much), in the DEP you will also be assigned a SEAL motivator who will further prepare you for the rigors of SEAL training, also remember to enlist with a SEAL Challenge Contract, this is a contract that guarantees you a shot at BUD/S but you have to take a PST-Physical Screening Test to be qualified for the SEAL Contract. You will be required to pass the PST within the first 60 days of your Delayed Entry date. You will also retake the PST within 14 days before you “ship” to Boot Camp and you will take it again once in Boot Camp. After having successfully compeleted the PST and graduating from Boot Camp, you will attend a BUD/S Preparation Course(recently created to prepare would-be Frogs.) After successfully completing THAT, its off to BUD/S where the real fun starts. Good luck pollywog.
