  1. you would have to go to college to become a special education teacher to learn how to handle some of the children in the classroom.

  2. you can major in education at a university and go through student teaching and get your credential.  i don't know much about that option because i became a special ed teacher after majoring in political science.  the way i did it was to enroll in an internship program (through the district if it's available, or through a university).  that way, you can work as a teacher while you are earning your credential.  special ed teachers make the same as regular ed teachers, though some places where there is a shortage or special ed teachers will give a one time bonus of a few thousand dollars (if you are credentialed).  the pay depends on your district.  first year average probably ranges from about 30,000 to 45,000 (also depends on your credential status).

  3. By instructor I am assuming you mean teacher, in which case you have to get a degree in Special Education just as you would have to to become a regular teacher. However, if you mean instructor as in an assistant, it would depend on the school district. Some require that you have an Associate's Degree while others require no education at all, just apply for an open position.

  4. Well, depend on what your college teacher will teach you and what materials they provide you. I am also taking the first year of SETA. If you meet its full criteria and graduate, then you will become a Special Educator.
