I just graduated High school, my GPA wasnt excellent so I have to go to a community college. What I would like to know is whether I have to aim for a Bachelor of Science in Zoology or Vet Medicine? Or do I first aim for a Biology degree, or...something? Im confused because so far everything I have read gives me a different answer... Thanks!

  1. That would depend on what your career goal is.  If you would like to be a Veterinarian you would need to check out what the graduate programs that offer DVM programs require.  I know that ISU does not require a Bachelors degree to get into their program(but most do get a bachelors first)but it is a competitive process for admission, so very high grades in all the related sciences, math and writing classes are basically required, as well as all prerequisite classes.  So you might make it in after three years of undergraduate study if you have very good grades and could convince them that you were absolutely dedicated to earning the Doctorate.  I also doubt that any kind of community college transfer credits will be very convincing to that end.
