  1. The best place for you to  start would be to join an adult dance class, which many dance schools now offer.  Be realistic though, it is NOT easy to be a ballet teacher, and you may find it is beyond you to pick it up now. But if you're willing to learn, and work hard, then maybe in time.

Start by becomming proficient in ballet yourself first, then think about teaching later.

Ring around your local dance teachers.  Good luck!

  2. You need to have a serious dance training to be a teacher.  It is not something that you can just decide to do out of the blue.

  3. well you can take ballet classes and earn your credential, but that would take until you're 50.

DON"T TEACH BALLET if you don't know ballet.  you have to have experience and credentials.  i'd hate to see what would happen to the kids you teach if you just went ahead and did whatever you felt like.

  4. if i was you i would get back into ballet and start dancing! how are you supposed to teach children how to dance when you don't know how to do it yourself. its hard enough being able to do it yourself!! i would get back into ballet for a few years, then start doing a teaching course. the RAD (Royal Academy of Dancing) has a great teaching course you can study. it will take a while but personally i would never send my child to be taught by an ill qualified teacher. the likelyhood of getting bad technique, bad habits and possibly getting hurt are higher! hope that this helps! good luck with your drram and get back out there dancing! happy dancing! =)

just another thing you will have parents who have grown up with ballet, being past students or professionals, or those who think their child is the prima donna so you need to be able to cope with this and be able to point out the flaws in their childs technique, prove that you know more about it than their parents. thats what they're coming to you for!

  5. Honestly, no studio will hire you with no dance experience (and ballet at five years old doesn't count for anything). To teach dance, you have to be VERY knowledgeable about technique, terminology, and everything those girls need to have a solid start in dance. Even though they are little, they still need to know how to do the steps correctly, or they could hurt themselves and end up being bad dancers. Would you go teach math or english to first graders if you spoke Spanish and never took a math class in your life? No! So why would you try to teach ballet if you don't know anything about it?
