How do I become a better Thespian?

I'm striving for a goal to become a better thesbian. How do I become a very successful thesbian? Naturally?

You need to be comfortable with yourself and your abilities and talents.  Be confident!!  And don't ever be lazy.  Every time you act, give it your all, and don't be afraid.  Try out for every play; even if you don't get a part, you can do technical work.  Volunteer to help little kids participate in different theatre programs.  Expose yourself to different genres of plays, and push yourself to be the best actor you can possibly be.

Well, as the same with everything, the way to get better is to practice. Take a class that works with thespians, and actually listen to everyone's input. Work with other people who are into acting. Do improvisation techniques in front of a group, like where you make up what you do as you go, there are many improv ideas you can get from other thespians or even on the internet. This helps you to get comfortable acting in front of others and helps you to take things as they come. Also, while watching tv or going to a play or performance, pay close attention to the acting of every single actor. They will show you what to do and what not to do. Some other advice, get to be really good friends with other thespians at your school and don't ever be afraid to put yourself out there. Don't EVER think that what you are doing is stupid, you have to put it over the top, if you don't you'll look even more stupid, trust me. So yeah, just get comfortable, put yourself out there in all situations possible, take a few healthy risks, and trust in your abilities. Practice makes perfect!

A good start is to call it "Thespian" not thesbian.

Also, really the best thing you can do is really just live the art. It becomes a lifestyle rather than a goal. Attend plays, watch movies (indi movies and foriegn especially! You only get so much out of Hollywood), and be a part of productions yourself. Audition, audition, audition, and when you get a part, give it everything you have. And with every audition, every part, every experience, LEARN from it! That's the key, if you ask me. The moment you decide you know everything, you've failed. Always learn and improve.

Like I said, it may be your goal to be a better thespian now, but when you really take it seriously, it will develop into a lifestyle, and not just a goal.

You need to have a passion for the theatre.

You can't force youself to like it.

Get involved in theatre more and ask questions.

The more you know about being a Thespian, the better Thespian you can be.
