Question:

How do I become a doll seller/reseller?

Well I've spent a lot of money on auctions bidding for Barbie and fashion royalty dolls and realize that there is a huge market out there I could be a part of as a new seller, but I am not sure how to get started. I'd like to start on ebay and related sites but I am not sure how to acquire the merchandise (I am talking about brand new stuff not old stuff; that I already have and am sorting through to see what I will sell off). Does anyone have any ideas? If you are also a doll seller please reply. Thanks!

  1. Begin by seeking to incorporate or start a business, and check with the manufacturers if you need a license for resale in your state.  Then you're able to buy at wholesale prices recent stock items.

Since you've mentioned Barbie I'd suggest you try asking Mattel at their customer service link.  I also found a link with the IRS since you'd be making money, charging taxes and taking deductible losses in shipping & inventory.

Now a place like eBay has people selling as either an afterthought or secondary/older items so you may need to ask on the eBay website about how a business is started or inventory is sold.  With eBay you need a routing number to take PayPal (as an option) for your customers to pay for their items directly, but that's another story altogether.

If you're in ANY of the Yahoo Groups ask there and see if anyone is a retailer/seller and maybe they too can give you some advice.

Good luck & if you get a good deal or website keep in touch.
