How do I become a freelance journalist?

What steps do I take? Writing the articles is obvious but what is the next step???? Any advice????

Friend of mine goes around with a digital camcorder and captures interesting events. He then tries to sell them to TV stations or newspapers. He once got 750 dollars for video of a huge pothole in the middle of an intersection.

Well I am also trying to become a journalist. As for as I know Ist thing you do join a newspaper see how people work there. Then chose a beat sports, commerce, International ect ect then read news papers watch TV and collect  information about your beat and then you decide what you want to do writer reporter ect ect then you work on and one day you see you become a very good journalist.

I chose a computer work in print media after a year I became a master of my work so hard work always pay you.
