  1. Well I would advice looking up , yardandgroom.com they have farms all over the world and the u.s.a. that are looking for help on race farms ,,

But you will need to learn about horses and be fit to ride ,

lots of heart , its hard work

You have a better chance on getting on horses at a farm before you would at the track , Either way you go, most likely will have to start at the bottom unless you have LOTS of experience ridding English ,,even then ,galloping is a whole different ball park ,,

Yes you will have to learn how to gallop also Lots of Jockeys gallop horses ,

Or go to a school,, I would go to Chris Mc Carens

But if you work at a farm you will get paid as you learn ,,

Please check out the farms on YARDANDGROOM .COM ITS a great site and free to you to post your profile and Pic

    of your self ,,

    Good luck

I was one,, and on the race track for over 20 yrs

  2. Get a job working for a trainer or owner. Start at the bottom and work your way up the ladder. You may be shoveling sh*t for a while but will have the opportunity to learn much about horses while you're working.

  3. i think it all starts with you being in sports.....then by dressing like one......then by acting like one! ...etc.

  4. Learn how to ride first,

    go to a farm.

    work hard,

    are you the right size?

    5'5 or under,,==100lbs?

  5. DO as i DO lol...I wanted to be one so i kept on prayin and tryin to find an exercising job and it happened so this summer i am exercising race horses...its awesome!!! now I just have to finish high school and move up around a track to get more involved.... I hope i helped...but look for a  job hot walkin of exercising...mine are no big race horses...just for a local fair every year and they race down in Louisiana too but its still AWESOME...hope to get with the big guys someday soon!

  6. Locate the nearest thoroughbred breeding and training farm. This will offer an opportunity to work and learn. Good help is always in demand.

Thoroughbreds are all about the basics. Prime time racing or bush tracks the basics will be the same. Rehab work on older runners and working with young livestock will provide valuable experience.

  7. If you go to:

    http://www.jockeysroom.com

and then go to the search section top right and ask the question; How do I become a jockey? They have all the information you will need.

    Another great site is:-

    http://brs.org.uk

These two sites will answer your question and put you on the right track!!

Good luck with your career. x

  8. i spent two years as a apprentice jockey before my weight got too much.

I started out at a local racing stable, appprenticed to a trainer.began as a stablehand. progressed to riding trackwork, fast work, jumpouts, barrier trials then actual races.

It takes alot of hard work and is physically demanding when your not used to it.

If you want to give it a go, i suggest contacting your nearest race club and go and talk to a few trainers. They will be happy to get you started. They often offer accomodation  too and you can see if you really like it or not.

    good luck.
