  1. Don't forget the quarterly fees and yearly fees, and renewing your license every four years (here in California) which means more studying, and courses, in order to get your 4 yr license.  It also means knowing your profession, marketing yourself, keeping up on all things relevant to real estate, writing contracts, knowing the right and wrong of real estate, code of ethics, being able to answer questions that your clients will ask you, overcoming objections, keeping yourself from being sued and everything in between.     Real estate in any state is a full time career especially if you are a rookie.   Only veterans can afford to work part time.  And in todays' market you need a constant stream of good leads that will turn into clients in order to make a profit.   Only if you are sure this is what you want to do should you consider becoming a REALTOR®

  2. Many people consider becoming a real estate agent one of the easiest professions to get into. If school is required for your state, it will only take a few months. With persistence and dedication, the small time investment will pay off in the long run as you become a successful real estate agent.

To become a real estate agent, you must obtain a license from the state where you plan to work. Most states require that you have at least a high school diploma to receive your license. There are some states that require the applicant to attend a real estate school prior to taking the test...

  3. You need to do the requirements set by the state of Florida to get the license. Which involves going to an approved school (don't worry it's not like you have to get a degree, you just have to do some real estate specific classes). Then you take a test, then find a broker, pay a BUNCH of fees (I'm talking a lot of fees, when I first started before I even bought the supplies, just in fees, tests, dues, etc. I paid over 2K, before even buying signs, lock boxes etc), then you will be licensed and able to sell.

On a side note, if you are just looking for a hobby, this may not be the best hobby to get into it is VERY costly, and if you are not serious and wise it will eat your lunch, fast.

Also, do not expect to do much business for a while, not only because it is a down market, but also working only part time (on the side) is a very difficult way to get into this and be successful.
