  1. Yes you can make money being a market maker, part of my firm had a market making operations

    Market Makers have many requirements, depending on where they operate.  Are addressing general securities or options. The easiest is the OTC market, with NASDAQ being the next while the exchanges have more requirements

    Judging by the wording of your question, it would be in your best interest to learn more about the market, the products trade in each market and the rules that govern such markets.

    You're going to need all of the above to even think about MM.

    To be any type of trader or investor you need four major items

    in place before you can begin

    1 - A written sound trading/investment plan with rules that will not only help you but more importantly protect you, mostly from yourself.

    2 - Sufficient trading/investment capital.  Use your own money, there’s no need to go into debt so that you trade/invest.

    3 - A written money management program in place.

    4 – A full and complete understanding of the rules & regulations of the industry

    Came back with a more defined type of market making activity that you want to participate in, it would make responding a lot easier and concise
