How do I become a musician at 13 ? (Guitar)?

Question

I'm 13 now, and I expect it will be about a year or 2 before I get a name around my area (East mids (Notts/Derby) - England).

I'm going to take my guitar grades this year at school, i'm in year nine.

I've got alot of praise from my guitar tutor and music teacher, I have a passion for music as well as a few other things. I belive can do it. But I need a little push along the way? :)

I havn't thought of a genre... i'd think soft rock, pop, and alternative / indie

Find some open mic nights etc. in your area.

a great way to start is to look at all the pub windows in your area to see what ones are doing jamming sessions. Alot of great places will have jam sessions on a sunday in pub towns. Im not from your area but if you keep your eyes pen im sure you will see some. You might have to get your dad to go along with you first but after that once places get to know your face you should be fine. Just take your instrument with you and they will let you join in. Some places with do jazz or blues or any kind really. Its great experience and its a great way to meet people in your area that enjoy music and playing with each other. Im sure you will make great contacts that way. I know you are only young but you would be supprised at the amount of young one`s that learn alot from the wiser generation.

and maybe try gathering some friends and starting a band

Or go solo and try recording some tracks

Then try and get your music out there

firstly you need to continue to practise and get comfortable playing different genres of music. you need to perform and get yourself known. the difficult bit is your age, people will just think your really good until your at least 15 if not 16. A musician is someone who loves music, loves the instrument he plays and understands music from all backgrounds. Also, you cannot become a musician, people make you one.

then you will become more famous

then join the X-factor, you'll win the X factor if you've got supporters
