I am 27 I have no experience working with children and I did not receive good grades at school. I am ambitious, self motivated, enthuastic, hardworking indiviual. Is there a course that I can go on to lead me into the training needed. I am aware that I will have to start at the bottom and work my way up.

  1. In order to teach in most schools, public and private, you need to be a certified teacher.  In order to do that you need to go to college for elementary education.  Most colleges and universities have education programs.  Once you are almost finished with your course of study and are student teaching, you will need to take Praxis exams specified for your state.  You then send the exam results along with your transcripts, application, and finger printing information to the state for your certification.

If your grades at school were low, check into a community college to get some of your core classes (math, English, etc...) taken care of.  This will give you a better chance at getting into a school for a bachelor's degree as well as being so much cheaper than taking those classes at a 4 year university.

If you are interested in working in education and do not have your certification, check the website of the schools in your area for teaching assistant opportunities.  You will need to be finger printed, but do not need a teaching certificate.  This will give you a chance to work in an educational setting and see if it is something you want to do.

    Good luck!

  2. you look it  up and see were primary schools are takeing people

  3. Have a look in your college, its best to study the subject you want to teach before you teach it!, trust me, im a drama teacher :)

However I have noticed, with like drama teaching, some places/councils rather you be police checked and fill out a 100 safety forms etc. before your allowed to teach it, others just dont care!

my advice is, be good dont get in trouble and have any reason for the law to say your not safe to teach and also study hard and look out in newspapers for jobs avalible :)

Also, kids no matter what age, they can be naughty to teachers!

what are you wanting to teach?

  4. i would reccomend that you enter a certification program. I am 24 and went to college but i didn't major in education, but after doing the resident teacher program, which is an alternate certification program offered by my state, i became a teacher.
