How do I become a race car driver?

My dream is to become a National Association for stock car racing driver next year. How do I become a female race car driver? Do I need to go start in a racing school right now and where is the nearest racing school in NC? I just turned 18 this year and I want to race in NASCAR. So, should I sign up for a racing school? Please offer feedback for me to become a race car driver. Should I drive a racing simulator before I race in the Nationwide Series? Please help me to make a goal for me to become a race car driver. Should I ask my folks if they will let me race next year? Thank you for your support and please be my fan when I start racing next year. Should I look for a racing school at Daytona International Speedway? Daytona is favoritete race track. Thank you for your help.

  1. Its actually really, really easy!.. ask Regan Smith... Find LOTS of  $ $ $ $ $ $!

  2. You have to be realistic about the whole situation. You can't just say, "You know... I think I'm going to be a NASCAR driver next year." It's not that easy.

First, Do you have any racing experience? Do you do any racing? For example, gokarts, sprint cars, late models, modifieds, imods? Anything like that? If not, odds are you won't be in NASCAR.

Secondly. There is a school in Mooresville, North Carolina called NASCAR Technical Institute. Although, NTI is not a guarantee that you will be a NASCAR driver, it prepares you with the knowledge and opportunities to meed people who work on pro-race teams. You could learn to build and fabricate NASCAR engines and bodies. To Visit that school's website, visit http://www.uti.edu/NascarTech/tabid/58/D...

It's an amazing school. My Boyfriend actually attends it.

Finally, Racing isn't something you just choose to do. Racing is a PASSION. RACING IS LIFE for these people. I choose to go to school for Motor Sports Management, because I LOVE RACING.

You should do this because you LOVE it. not because it pays money and looks cool.

  3. fist learn to work on a car then purchase a car from your local track learn to work on it set it up all the tools to work on it the trailer and truck to haul it and you better have a nice bank account with a few thousand dollars for back up parts engines extra cars incase you wreck one then you need to practise practise practise learn all you can if your good you may get spotted and get an offer to drive for a top cup team but dont hold your breath there are thousands and thousand s of people who want the same thing dont give up on your dreams its fun to drive a local short track to remember its a hobby if you get an offer top drive then its a living good luck also try and get on a team at the local tracks working on there car see if its for you there is a lot of resourses need to race at ahobby level also and its not cheap ive done it on my own and takes lots of cash just for one season entry fees fuel to get car there race fuel etc new tires every few weeks etc etc

  4. Start with dirt track racing and go from there.  If you've never driven a race car, the racing schools really dont mean anything and they're not going to do anything for your resume.

    Good luck.

  5. race car drivers.. like most any other sports are supported by sponsors. get a fast car and compete in local races and circuts. you will eventually work your way up to a contract if you work hard enough and then boom. your in

  6. wow 18 is sort of late to really get into that game, sorry. most race car drivers begin as early as 3 racing go carts. then they grow up to be nascar drivers or formula1 drivers.

  7. Try praying.

  8. First. . . GET A RACING CAR.

  9. 1 if you are 18 and not the same 13 yr old girl who keeps asking this same ? week after week, you are a little late to get started. You are not to going to "walk" right into Cup or Nationwide.

#2 There are some driving schools that you could attend....I would try a little research if I was you....the answers you get in this forum will not help you....especially with all the trolls lurking.

#3 You need to start at the bottom and work your way up. Find a local dirt track or short track, buy a junker fix it up and go racing. If you are good you'll be found, if you stink try to find another calling.

This answer is not meant to offend you or hurt your feelings but asking that question in here is not the way to go. Do some research, if you want it bad enough don't expect it to be handed to you....gotta work for it.

  10. Here is a few possible solutions. Sorted from least helpful to most helpful.

    1. You already are a race car driver, but a violent wreck has you thinking you are a 17 year old who has a dream of being a race car driver.

    2. Be a relative to a racing legend.

    3. Marry someone who is a relative to a racing legend.

    4. Be rich enough to start your own NASCAR team.

    5. The most common starting grounds for a would-be NASCAR driver is a local short track. If you have money, you should be fine. Simply buy some cars, find a short track near you, follow all rules and regulations of the track you plan to go to, and get yourself entered.

    6. Go to a racing school (like Skip Barber). They are expensive, but if you look up a little info on them you may decide it's worth it. With this, you will get some track time and experience, which helps when a brand new non-family-run team needs a driver at your short track.

    7. If you are not the richest person in the world, I know how you feel. What I would suggest is find a local short track and perhaps buy a few infield passes (if possible). Start talking to some teams when they aren't busy and volunteer to help and ask some questions. If you show up regularly and impress them, maybe they'll ask you if you want a job working for them. I think you will be able to take it from here.

Me, I don't care if I get to NASCAR at all. I just want to someday start up a short track race team and race as a hobby =) DO NOT let bad people that say "you're doomed" discourage you.

  11. Why do you want to be a female driver?

It's a lot more easy to become a male driver!

  12. You have to start racing at lower levels and get the experience.  It's not like you can just join NASCAR and race.  With all the NASCAR teams in NC, contact them and get their advice.  You won't be driving NASCAR or any levels unless you start somewhere low.
