Question:

How do I become a runner?

I've always love running, but I wanted to take it further and do it every day as a form of exercise but also for enjoyment.

I usually only go for a brisk walk every day

Does anyone have any hints/tips on how I can improve and work on running?

  1. I hope this isn't too blunt but

    JUST RUN.

Get out there and run, run, and run.

If you get cramps, then force yourself to run that extra few yards. The next day make yourself go a few MORE yards. Eventually you will be able to run longer distances without cramping up. Same applies for if your legs feel tired.

Running is a great source of workout. KEEP IT UP!

  2. Drink lots of water, and every morning or night after work... go on a jog... but each day try and make your time back home to be faster and faster.

  3. go to a gym. advertise for a coach.

  4. if you need ideas for where to run, go to mapmyrun.com

you can improve your running by going on short, slow runs everyday. gach day, go a little longer and a little faster. it'll build up your endurance.

don't run on a treadmill. run outside.

    good luck! :)

  5. Practice, Practice, Practice

  6. take it one step at a time...make sure you stretch ...then everyday do a little bit more and push yourself until you fall down ....

    you can do it!!

  7. well its always nice to run in the morning.Take the distance you walk everyday and try to light jog it. After that just keep building up until you can run that distance without stopping. Then start increasing the distance a little bit at a time. After that join races that rent exactly competitive but its a very nice feeling. For example i did the Shamrock Shuffle in Chicago this year and it was really fun just to spend a day downtown and also get a run in. Hope this helps :D

  8. Have your friend drive you to a really bad Ghetto neighborhood at 11PM, you will become a runner INSTANTLY!!!

  9. RUN

  10. Go to your nearest running club.  They can train you up properly, and you will appreciate running more.

  11. Do you know how to tie your shoes?

  12. just run. get out there and run everyday, run for fun.

  13. google earth... pick out your route so you can see other things and stuff pick different routes every time and increase your runnin time, maybe pick up those runner jumpy thing that counts how long you runned... km wise and try to get that runners high thing feels great you'll want to run everytime just to get it

  14. Just get out there and do it. Improve your times every day you go out there. Also take some music with you, it gets you even more pumped.

  15. Start off slow and follow a routine.  Start run/walk each day instead of just walking.  Slowly build up to running.

  16. Train with friends.  Join a group of runners at your local park.  They will accept you as one of their own as long as you share a common interest.

Most importantly of all: Test yourself.  You must constantly strive to be better, to beat your own personal best.  Don't compare yourself to others.

  17. Run.

  18. To be honest, the only way to become better at running, is to run, quite frankly.

I mean really, if you for example love soccer, the only way to get better is to play soccer, you know?

If you love running, then do it as often as you can. For example if you work, and your home is close to your work area, you can jog from home to there and back.

If you're still in school, you can jog to school instead of taking the bus/car, or whatever you do to get to school.

Maybe get together with some active friends and organize special monthly running events. Like races, endurance runs and in the end there could be prizes.

  19. LOL.....LIKE EVERYONE ELSE SAID JUST RUN
