How do I become a teacher with a nonteaching degree?

How can a person with a master degree in nonteaching field to become a special education teacher in the state of Georgia or Florida? Will this mean a person have to return to the graduate school again to become a certified teacher? Where do I get a very good GACE basic skills assessment study guides? What about FTCE study guides in Florida? Which state (Florida or Georgia) would be better for Deaf Education teachers regarding to salary, benefits and other perks?

  1. look into 'alternate route' programs in each state

    look up the state department of ed websotes-they should describe all the methods on how to become a teacher


  2. it depends on who you want to teach..like what age group.

    i would say florida has better benefits, however i don't think you need a degree. just go to a school you want to teach at and ask them if you could be a teacher's assistant, and if you do well as that, then they just might promote you to being a teacher. all the best!

  3. You usually have to take the general teaching praxis test befofre teaching then start working on the education part of a complete degree. NCLB makes it so.
