How do I become a vegetarian?

What is the difference between a vegetarian and a vegan??

I would like to stop eating meat and eggs…. but would still like to enjoy dairy. Is that still vegetarian?

Also.. Would I be allowed to eat fish and seafood??? Or do I have to cut all fish and seafood out of my diet too??

I am also worried about getting enough protein… I would choose to eat beans… what else could I eat for protein? Nuts? Would Whey protein be okay??

Are the any good books you could recommend to get me started??

Thank you!!!

  1. a vegetarian does not eat meat...and a vegan does not eat meat or dairy products e.g milk cheese...

as a vegetarian you are aloud to eat fish

    eat nuts and pulses

  2. you can design your own plan as a vegetarian. some vegetarians only eat some meats, or non at all. you can deisgn a plan that is best for you. there is nothing you arent "allowed" to do.

  3. Strict vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, shrimp, clams, eggs or dairy.

    Lacto-vegetarians eat dairy.

Breads, pastas, cereals, rice, beans, peas, lentils, nuts and seeds are all significant sources of protein.

  4. how about eating what you want, and not worrying about being accepted into a "title" like "vegetarian" or "vegan"

if you don't want to eat meat, don't eat meat, if you don't want to eat eggs, don't eat eggs...

don't worry about what it's called...

  5. It's not something you could do overnight.  Before you can make a drastic change in your life, it's important that you are extremely convinced as to why you're doing it.  Remember, buying a new car, changing homes, changing work, you have to weigh the pros and cons.  Diet change is certainly bigger than the examples I've mentioned.

If you need assurance that vegetarianisim is the way to go, books by John Robbins would be a good read.

Plant-based proteins are a good way to go so don't worry about not getting it from meat.

I can't call myself vegetarian because I still eat meat although I prefer eating fruits and vegetables.  Mainly because I felt good after cutting down on meat generally.  Whereas before, a complete meal would have meat as the main course, I would just have it on the side or none at all.  I reserve eating meat for dinner with friends or family gatherings with really good home cooked food that I grew up with.  That's because I love eating but I'm also concerned with my health.

    So what's your reason?

  6. 1. Vegearians don't eat meat, fish, or any slaughter by products such as Gelatine. In addition to this list, vegans eat nothing from an animal. If it comes from an animal, vegans don't eat it.

2.Check cheeses and yogurts to make sure they are suitable for vegetarians. Some cheeses and yogurts are made with animal rennet, which is not veggie. Otherwise, vegetarians can eat dairy products.

3.Vegetarians don't eat fish or any seafood.

    4. Protein: Beans, nuts, tofu, soymilk, bread, pasta, legumes, green vegetables

    5. It's a good idea to buy a few vegetarian cookbooks to familarise yourself with veggie cooking. Also check out books on vegetarian nutrition at a library.

    Hope this helps :)

  7. vegans dont touch any animal products at all, vegatarians just dont eat meat. But dont worry about labels, dont lable yourself. Do what you beleive you should do. I would be "labled" a Raw Vegan if someone were to pigieon hole me there. Why do you want to be this way. what are your reasons. If its health, then kick the meat, the dairy, anything but Raw Fruits and Veggies, and some nuts or seeds on ocasion. Dont worry about protein, if you think you need to worry about protein your not as smart as you think. Have you ever met anyone with a protein deficiency? I bet not. Even if you ate straight up white rice all the time you would get plenty of protein. But that would not be heatlhy.Nuts a very fatty use sparingly, once a week or so. Spinach has all the protein you need, as does most veggies and fruit. one banana has 4% of its calories from protein. Point is dont stress the specifics, nature has set the world up for already, eat Fresh Ripe Fruits and Veggies for True Health!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Prove me wrong!!

Stay away from more than 10% fat and more than 10% protein in your diet, make 80% carbs, real carbs like fruit!!! not grains and pasta, their is no grain in this world that you can eat without processing it, and flavoring with someting else to make it palatable. Think people , think

  8. The e-book was made to help people like you who really want to be a vegetarian or a vegan to successfully become one

This is just my thought, but from my experience, you need to do 2 Things that will definitely make you a life long vegetarian.

The First One is Find Your Sense of Purpose. ( What is your real reason of why you want to become a vegetarian. More about this on chapter 4 )

The Second One is DONT EVER EVER GIVE UP NO MATTER WHAT !

IF you do these 2 things, you'll definitely can become a vegetarian

  9. how u become veggie.

    1) eat meat

2)eat steak(most delicious meat there is)

    3) eat more meat

  10. keep eating meat.being a vegetarian sucks they don't enjoy food as much as we meat eaters

  11. Vegetarians do not eat meat. This includes beef, chicken, veal, fish..etc.

However, vegans do not consume anything that comes from an animal. This includes milk, butter, honey, cheese....etc. Also, some vegans do not use or wear any animal products like leather.

There are many different degrees of vegetarianism. Of course you can not eat meat or eggs and still have dairy! You'd still be a vegetarian, but not vegan.

If you want to be a true vegetarian then no, you cannot have any seafood. As far as protein goes, there are lots of vegetarian foods that you can get protein from. Spinach, beans, tofu, and nuts are high in protein along with many other things.

I am reading a book called A Diet for New America by John Robbins. It really inspired me to stop supporting the meat/ dairy industry. You should read it! If you're looking for dietary books for vegetarian's there are TONS.

Congrats on your decision. I wish you the best!
