How do I become an Autism Parent Consultant?

I have successfully navigated the Early Intervention and CPSE systems, and have helped others as a volunteer and as a parent's advocate, but would like to transition from Advocate to Consultant, so that I can generate an income.

I live in NYC, and I have post-graduate education, but not precisely in Special Ed or related fields.

  1. Call your state dept of education and ask for info for the federally funded parent advocacy agency.

    They should be able to tell you info on this.

    Some give free classes on training. In GA they do.


  2. I looked at some job ads for Autism Consultant and they seem to want a degree in special education. Here is one of the ads:
