How do I become an Electrical power lineman?

  1. That's a great video.  I've seen it before, and still can't believe it.

    Anyways, from the Dept. of Labor it looks like to get a job as a line worker requires a good bit of on the job training/apprenticeship.  Also, since the work has so much intrinsic danger, you can believe companies are pretty careful about who they give the opportunities to:  no hot dogs, dopers, or boozers;  need to follow instructions, need to be in shape, need to like and be good with mechanical things and problem solving, etc.

    If you are really into it, go to a vocational school or CC, work hard and do well, get a degree related to electrical or telecommunications work, and then look around for companies that do the sort of work you want and in which there are opportunities to get those jobs, and start applying.  If they take you, you will get a lot more training, and then start working your way up the seniority scale until you can apply for those dream jobs.
