What degree do I need? Im thinking of majoring in Management Information Systems and Accounting.

  1. concentrate on securities, cisco, external and internal securities are the primary concern. I dont know of any degrees that specialize in the but an MSCE and start with a CCNA will give you a great introduction on those 2 types.

    Here are some examples to think of

    Physical security- access to buildings and servers, USB keys

    Internal security - protect from employees, securing againt guests in your building

    Hardware security- disposal of used equipment

    external connectivity security

    Password policy and security

    account management/user groups

    Local accounts versues domain account

    IP based security

    Radius servers...

    There is a lot to cover but personally I think a network administrator is a good place to start.


  2. MIS/Accounting and IT internal auditors are different domain but inter connected.

    you have separate course for Testing/Quality assurance.

    through search engines yahoo/google get the information of core activities of QA internal auditor on IT.

  3. Sounds like the right plan, except I would switch to Computer Science rather than MIS.
