How do I best find and rent a modest studio apt in N. Italy on a month to month basis. Going there in 3 weeks

Can I, should I, rent site unseen, using the internet or should I wait to get to Northern Italy (Lake Region). And how do I determine what rental places are in safe areas of the city / town.

I have found nice places on Venere.com, but just typing in "apartments in Italy" or whatever city/region yields many results. I think you are fine to use the internet.  Look for a place and email or call them. People have been very helpful to me.  Also, do you live in a city that has an Italian Consulate?  See if they can give any info.

If you ever go to Rome I know of two apartments for rent - one within walking distance of St.Peter's but off the beaten path, and one near St. John Laterine.

I heard the Lake Region is beautiful -- have fun!
