How do I best take about 5 layers of paint off of my grandmothers' 50 years old metal patio furniture?

  1. paint thinner will do the job along with sandpaper to take it to the metal


  2. Depending on what the furniture is made of, there are strippers, heat guns, scrapers,sand blasting

  3. Before you try anything too complicated or expensive, try spraying some oven cleaner on a small part of it. I used this method to remove heavy-duty paint from metal when nothing else would work. Try it on the back or bottom first!

    wear gloves and do it outside

    the paint will literally fall off

  5. Have somebody sandblast it.  I just finished painting about the 5th layer of paint on my metal chairs, so you could also just paint it again too.  Good luck!

  6. you can get small sandblasters...it's easier then you would think...likely you can rent them as well...don't be intimidated they are alot like an electric paint sprayer ..all you have to do is sweep up after
