  1. first, your pointe shoes are not supposed to be "soft" but she should break them in by wearing them. put them on and put on socks or something over them, so they don't get dirty or damaged. you can also bend them in half, but not too much so they break. just enough to make them more flexible.

  2. Take the top & bottom of the shoe and bend it lightly back and forth, then whack them on the floor and repeat.

Make sure not to bend them too hard, or the s***w will come out, and then the pointe shoe is pretty much worthless.

It usually takes around a week to break them in, just be patient.

  3. I usually just take a blunt object(like a hammer) and beat the shank with them.

Though nothing breaks them in better than dancing!

I'm guessing you're new to pointe work, but I've noticed that when my pointe shoes are softer, my feet hurt more. I guess it's because they're not getting as much support from the shank.

  4. Your sister should wear them lots, like around the house, but not anywhere that could damage them or get them dirty. This will break them in.

Also, (this works for our sneakers) put one of your sister's socks full of cat litter or sand or something similiar into them over night. This will break them in without her having to wear them at all! ;)

  5. Dance in them a lot-- go from half pointe to pointe like 50 times (this is also really good for your feet.)

Do barre etc in them, and you can even squirt them with with a little bit of water to soften them.

  6. Get your teacher to do it.

  7. * Keep in mind; the softer your point shoes are, the more they hurt.

    Try these ways. . .

    1. Whack them on the ground; hard!

    2. Slam the shank in the hinge portion of a door.

    3. Put rubbing alcohol on the shank (Not reccomended for beginners)

    4. Bake them (Also not reccomended for beginners)

OR THE TRIED AND TRUE METHOD . . .

    Dance in them!!!

  8. I have tried all the crazy methods like putting alcohol on them or slamming them in doors, hitting them with hammers etc etc so I would say that yes theese methods work but the best way is to to put them on for about an hour a day and so warm up excerises that way they soften up and they also mould to your feet quicker making them a lot easier to wear I am curretly on my third pair of pointe shoes and I have found this is the best method as the other methods soften them quicker but they damage the inside as in it cracks in weird places.

    hope that helps L xox

  9. There are a lot of things your sister can do... have her put the box in the door and begin to shut the door on it.  Or you could bend it back and forth and stand on the box.  Have your sister walk around in the house with them on on half toe.  To make the box form to your feet a little better put a line on water around the box and form it to your feet.  But the best thing is to dance around in the shoes.

  10. The best way to break them in is to dance in them. Rise up to demi-pointe, full pointe, press over (bending the knees), return to full pointe, and lower. Repeat about 99 more times, and they should be broken in.

  11. try these, they may help! remember to ask the teacher before doing any of these!

    1. walk around in them on demi pointe!

    2. bend the shank where her arch is!

    3. bang them on a hard surface! (hard!!!)

    4. smush the box in ur hand!

    hope this helps! good luck!

  12. Ask your ballet instructor for guidance: they all have their favorite ways...
