How do I break my facebook habit?

I think I'm spending way too much time on facebook...but I can't because I want to know what's going on...What can I do to break this habit?

  1. haha i do the same on myspace, well i did , i just went outside more and shopped / looked online for clothes ill do that for a while . do things like rewards tv where you can get money out of not getting on facebook.

Don't turn your computer on in the morning.  Call your friends on the phone instead of sms or facebooking.  Make a plan to do something that will take up some significant time, or get out of the house so you can't facebook.  Get the application off your phone.  Delete your applications if you're playing the games, sending plants etc.  Set a specific time of the day you're going to check in to facebook, once or twice max.  Spend a half hour online, that's it.  Then SHUT OFF the computer and don't look back.

Get something called Scrapboy (http://www.scrapboy.com/en).  It lets you pick which friends you want updates from and lets you customize what kind of updates you want to hear about (pokes, new photos, wall posts, etc).  The updates "pop-up" on your desktop so you can be doing anything else (watching a movie, homework, etc) and still know instantly when anything exciting happens to you or a friend you care about. It's a nice alternative to just "going cold turkey" on facebook  ;) since you won't miss anything but can also spend time doing other things.

    It's also available as an app on Facebook :D and works with Myspace too in case you decide to go with some of the other peoples' suggestions :P.
