How do I break the news?

Hi,

A couple months back I basically promised my drama teachers that I wouldn't enrol onto my second year of A levels and join their National Diploma course. Because I hadn't done very well at all in some january exams but I'd done fine in drama.

Things is, I thought that I wouldn't do well in my final exams of this year, but I did, and I'm sure that I want to stay on my A levels.

So I've got to go and tell these people, in about a day, that I can't do the course this year, which is gonna be difficult because they freaking love me. I was one of their favourite people this year in my AS drama course (which isn't running next year because too many people dropped out! which is why I considered the national diploma in the first place!)

Anyway I knida thought I would say it like, "it's not because my thoughts about the course have changed but because I have the opportunity to finish this course with grades that I thought I wouldn't be getting..." and stuff like that.

But please, can you help me out?

Thanks

  1. Just tell them. It will be hard, but most likely they will understand. So... just tell them. :-(

  2. It will be bad news for them, but the earlier you tell them the better it will be for your relationship with them. These things happen all the time, and the best thing to do is to communicate as soon as you know that changes have to be made. They will respect you for coming to them asap. Nothing better can be made of this.

  3. I'm a teacher- they won't take it personally, they will wish you the best. it won't be a big deal pupils change their minds about courses right up to the last minute. Good luck with the courses.

  4. Sounds like you have it sorted - stop stressing unnecessarily.

  5. you would be fine.they would understand
