How do I breed 2 budgies and what do I need to do it?

First of all one has to be a male and the other a female.

Then you need a cage where they can have some privacy.  The female will need a nesting box.  Every once in a while throw in some nesting material...bits of string, paper, kleenex...stuff like that.  Make sure they have plenty of food and fresh water, some leafy greens once in a while.  Once their instincts kick in....they'll know what to do.

Hi,

To breed budgies then it would be best for you to contact a local breeder as they can help you and give you specific advice and even sell you excess birds. But i have just started breeding budgies firstly you need to decide on what scale you are going to breed them on whether its a cage set up or a aviary and colony breeding setup.

If you just want a cheap set up to learn a little then you can buy budgie breeding cages and there are lots of sellers on ebay etc which sell these, they have the nest box built in already.

Then all you need is food water and a male and female budgie. Just put them in the box and when spring/summer comes around then they should begin nesting and breeding.

One thing to remember though is that you really want birds with pretty colours as these sell better and when you're breeding birds you need to sell them quick as if left in the cage to long with their parents then the parents may attack or kill them so remember if you want to breed them make sure that you can sell then unless you have separate cages for chicks until you sell them.

well you may need a cage with a nesting box or something but as long as ones a fertile ready  girl and the other an interested boy.... then you should be fine... ???
