Question:

How do I bring a Wal-Mart to my small town?

I moved to a small town on the Oregon coast which doesn't have a Wal-Mart. To get to the nearest one, it's an hour in each direction. I e-mailed Wal-Mart and basically got an automated response saying "We appreciate your concern.... blah, blah, blah" and according to the "Locals", they do not and will not stand for having one here, as it "hurts Mom & Pop businesses". I understand, but.... I NEED Wal-Mart, as do many of the other residents I've spoken to. I don't know how to do this. I found PetitionOnline.com, have you heard of it? And, if I were to do some sort of "petition", what's the best way to word it and what resources are there that I'm not aware of?

  1. lol thats a first....usually small towns try to keep walmarts out...its unfortunate but in most cases " mom and pop" owned stores just cant keep up with walmarts competition and goes bankrupt...ive never heard of the petition website.i dont see how it would do much though.why not try getting together and contact your local mayor, also call 1-800-walmart and they should be able to get you in the right direction.if youd rather contact them online ..which might be easier (sometimes you wait awhile on the 1-800 number) see the link below
