Ver 10.4.11 I will allow it to go to sleep. When I move the mouse or hit shift or arrow keys to bring it out of sleep nothing happens. Is there a way to bring my computer out of sleep? As of right now I'm holding down the power key until it powers down and then I bring it up again. HELP!?!?

  1. Just lightly push the power button.  I have had some issues with my Macbook coming out of sleep, though.  Sometimes, it never loads the login box, so I have to close it, reopen it again so it loads, and then login.

Usually opening your laptop or pushing the power button (not holding it) will bring it back.

  2. This sounds like it could be an issue with the power management hardware. You can reset this:

Shutdown the Mac as you would normally. Wait 10 seconds (or more) and then press and hold the power button until you hear a long high pitched tone from the speaker. Release the button when you hear the tone. The computer should now boot normally.

If the problem recurs, you might like to try to resetting the Parameter Ram... to do this, shut down the computer, wait ten seconds or more and then press the power button. Immediately, hold down command, option, p and r - keep holding them down until you hear the startup chime for the second time. You need to be quick otherwise the computer will startup with resetting the pram. The computer will boot normally...

These usually sort out my sleep problems...
