  1. Hah! Yeah right, this is a joke right? A modern car engine is the result of hundreds of years of continual improvements by thousands of engineers and scientists. And you expect to build one, from scratch, with no experience? Do you even realize how complex an engine is?

That's like me going out to my garage and slapping together a space shuttle. Not gonna happen.

  2. Start  by taking an existing engine apart and putting it back together.  You will learn a lot about engines just dealing with all the components.

Once you can take one apart and put it back together, (and get it running), then try repairing an old engine.

To make things easier, start with an air-cooled VW engine.  Better yet, an old lawn mower engine.

  3. To build an engine from scratch you would have to make all the parts.  Nobody can do this.  It takes whole factories full of speciall machines and trained people.

If you mean assemble an engine from parts, that could possibly be done without experience, but you would need a very detailed assembly manual with instructions for every step.  Such a manual probably doesn't exist, since most manuals are written for somebody with at least some experience.    So you really need some experience, or somebody with experience to give some guidance.  You could get some experience by taking apart and assembling some engines, as has been suggested.

  4. You only want about a four year course of study.

Sorry, ....... we don't have the time.
