Question:

How do I build a device that shoots fire out of a guitar?

I'm in the guitar business selling custom guitars, and I think it would be awesome to have a guitar that shoots a 1 or 2 foot flame from the headstock at the push of a button. Of course there would be a safety feature!!

How would I do such a thing? My guitars are at myspace.com/ganimastguitars

Thanks in advance!

  1. A hollow truss down the neck could allow gas to exit at the headstock.  A small chamber with a "quick-release" fitting could allow pressurization with butane from easily available tanks (at your local bar-b-q tank seller).

Use a push-button  piezo ignitor than uses very small batteries.  Where to place a small butane cylinder and what type of quick-fill fitting is up to you.  I would include a safety valve to prevent over-filling.

NEVER use this apparatus with a hair band.  Too much hairspray may send them down in flames.

  2. Do something like the Sandman Guns from Logan's Run - a brass water tank with a beefed-up lighter valve at the top with an aeration chamber containing a glow-plug from an RC aircraft.  Drop Calcium Chloride into the water and reseal it - after a few minutes, acetylene is produced and released when the valve is opened. Air is mixed and the glow plug ignites it.

    -Woof!
