How do I build a resume? Portfolio?

How should I lay it out? I have always wanted to act but i never had the chance to do so because my mom was a single parent caring for 5 children, working long shifts to provide us with our necesities and a few of our wants. Because of her crazy schedule, i was never able to perform in plays or audition for such things but its always been my life- long dream and it continues to be my given dream. People say dreams dont come true but i believe deep in my heart my dreams will come true. Should I put this in my resume? Its all true. I am 16 years old by the way. What information is needed for the portfolio? How do i lay it out? How do I build a resume? Thanks!

  1. Hii there! :) Great question...

An acting portfolio is your training, past theatre, film, dance, and commercial experience, your name, height, weight, hair color, eye color, contact, special skills and hobbies and sometimes people have a little picture on it. You need a headshot and resume to start building your acting portfolio.

-DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ELSE ON YOUR RESUME, IT'S UNPROFESSIONAL-

Building your portfolio- getting experience, and getting roles that you can list on your resume. It also means getting the training you need and then listing it on your resume as well.

Headshot- The professional/non-professional picture of your chest and up. This si so that when you go to an audition they remember what you look like and this will also help determine if you get the role or not...very important.

How do I get a headshot?- A professional headshot is the key thing here. Grab your yellow pages and look for photography. Call different places and ask if they do acting headshots, and if so how much will they cost. Look for the ones 100-200$ anything else is horrible quality or a rip-off!! If you don't have the money for a professional photographer then rent a professional camera and get your mom or friend to take it. Just find a nice environment with great lighting to take it. If you don't have enough money to rent a camera then just use a good quality one you have.

Here is a picture of a professional headshot and what it should look like:

Here is a picture of an un-professional headshot and what it should look like:

    Now...for the resume!

I already listed what you're supposed to put on it but I will quickly list them again and then show you what it should look like:

    *Name in big font

    *Phone number

*Mobile Phone number(if you have one)

    *Email

    *Height

    *Weight

    *Hair Color

    *Eye Color

    *Past Acting Experience

    *Training

    *Special Skills and Hobbies.

Helpful Acting Tip! -Make a brand new hotmail account with your full name in it instead of your account for all your pals. This account will be strictly for acting, the email you put on your resume. Example: JohnDoe@hotmail.com

  2. Just GO to L.A. take a big shot at it, then if you don't get picked, then keep trying until you land something, don't give up. Let me ask you a question. How many strikes did the batter get before he hits a home run? And of course he wasn't trying to strike out, but atleast he tried to hit.

  3. start with classes at school then do plays at shcool build up your resume get experience! then get an agent and if you want to be succesful it will take years of hard work slowly climbing the ladder of success but if you get a chance to do somethign big go for it!

for agents and all the info you need go to actinginfo.blogspot.com and talentagents.blogspot.com for the agent one click table of contents then click city nearest you. read everything on the site

answers wont pop up infront of you so look around and click on the words in blue but not the ones that are double underlined!
