  1. In order to add a dormer to your house you need to cut away your roof and frame around the area you wish to put a dormer.

But what you need to know before you think about adding a dormer is if the structure below the attic can sustain a room above it.   If the floor of the attic and the walls are not strong enough to handle the weight of an additional room on top of them.  The dormer would be a bad idea.  You could be endangering the structural integrity of your home.

You need to consult with a professional to determine if what you want is even feasible before you proceed.

  2. Sounds like you need a carpenter, or a contractor.

Building dormers in a roof is complex.  Probably needs to be permited (have permits and inspections).

  3. Fitting dormer windows usually involves cutting into structural members of the roof framing. If you are not experienced in this type of work, I would suggest you get professional help.
