My landlord won't let me get a DirecTV dish installed on his roof. How do I build my own tripod/post to mount a dish?

  1. The link below has pictures of commercial mounts, you could copy one of them.

    Keep in mind that the post for mounting a dish is just a steel pipe that is rigid (so the dish doesn't move when the wind blows) and plumb (straight up and down with a level).

    Something like a steel frame weighed down with concrete blocks (see #17) or perhaps clamping it to a sturdy rail might be simpler.

    Wood changes shape when the temperature and humidity change so avoid it.

    I read of another solution involving a planter, post, and some concrete.
