How do I burn programs from my sky plus to a cd-r?

I have a few programs on my sky plus that I want to put onto a cd-r and I was wondering how I would go about doing this. I don't have a dvd recorder so I am trying to find another way to get my programs off to free up some space on the hard drive. I would like to put them onto a cd-r if possible. Any help anyone can give me would be very much appreciated. Thanks

  1. Best way to do this would be to get a video capture device on your PC like this:

Then get a SCART to Phono cable and join them together, select what you want on your Sky + box and play it and use the supplied software from your video capture device to record it to your hard drive.

From there you should be able to convert it and play with it until happy and then burn it onto CD/DVD as desired.

  2. i know its a bit old school but sky plus is set up to allow you to copy programs from your personal planner to a video recorder. you just highlight copy on your planner and hit select then it will play out the recordings for you to copy to video.

as it does this only at normal real time speeds i do not see how recording to a cd-r would be possible as it obviously burns at a much higher speed

  3. A CD-R is an audio-only format.  You cannot record video onto a CD-R.

If you want to record video onto a disc, you will need a DVD-R / DVD+R and a DVD recorder.
