How do I buy things from Overseas Online?

I'm from England, and I want to buy something in America. Its in dollars of course. How do I go about buying it? Can I use a credit card like I normally do, or do I need to do something about it?

credit card is fine, or if the seller accepts pay-pal, thats a very good system for this. both are ok.
