  1. The type of car it is doesn't matter. The calculation is the same and at this time it is 50.5 cents per mile.


  2. If you are self employed, there is a calculator for your taxes, otherwise your company should give you the calculator.  I have never seen a different calculator for SUV's than cars though.

Set your milage thing over and put a gallon of gas in your tank when the gas light is on. when your gas light is on you have about a gallon in your tank.  Keep driving when you see the gas light look at the milage thing to see how many miles you get to the gallon.  Find out how many miles you drove when you were on your original trip.  Divide how many miles you get to the gallon by the miles you went on your trip and times it by your current gas price.

  4. Go to the IRS website.  They help you with questions like the one your are asking.  Remember its IRS.gov.

  5. The type of vehicle is irrelevant.  The IRS calculates a flat .505 dollars per mile.  If you want to get more bang for the reimbursed buck, get a smaller car.  Your company may offer a differential, but they don't have to.
