How do I calculate holiday pay earned for night shift?

I work 4x10 hour shifts per week and I am entitled to 20 nights holiday per year, holidays start from 1st April 2008 and I worked upto the 23rd July 2008,so I need to know how much holiday I have earned because I did not work the full 12 months.I worked it out to be 6.726 nights and my employer says it is only 6 nights

  1. Depending upon how you figure the vacations, I come up with 6 days.

    method 1:  assuming 52 weeks a year, you would get .38 days per week.  From April 1 to July 23, there are approximately 16 weeks and .38 x 16 is 6.08 days.

    method 2 - assuming 12 months, you would get 1.67 days per month.  You worked 3 3/4 months which is 6.24 days of vacation.

    both round down to the 6 days.
