I want to know how I can pull a 60% overall off. I wrote a mid term worth 30% of my grade and I received exactly 50% on this, I wrote a paper also worth 30% of my grade and received a 57.5% I am now about to write an exam worth 40% of my grade what percentage do I need to achieve on this exam to have an overall mark of at least 60%?

  2. The midterm is 30%, which is equal to .3.

.3 x 50 = 15 points added to your final grade from the midterm.

.3 x 57.5 = 17.25 points added to your final grade from the paper you wrote.

    15 + 17.25 = 32.25 points accumulated so far.

    60 -32.25 =27.75 more points needed to reach 60

    (grade on exam) x .4 = 27.75

(grade on exam) = 27.75 divided by .4

    grade on exam = 69.375

You need a 69.375 on the exam to achieve an average of 60%.  However, if you wind up with a 58 or 59 average, there are many teachers who would just give you the benefit of the doubt and boost your grade up to 60.
