  1. I emailed Yahoo with this question and here is their response:

Option I: If you want to transfer the registration of your domain:

    --------------------------------------...

If you decide to transfer your domain away from Yahoo!, and your domain

ends in .com .net .biz, .info, .org, or .us, you'll need your

    authorization code.

To find this code do the following:

    1) Sign in to your Business Control Panel (you'll be prompted to enter

your Yahoo! ID and password if you haven't already done so).

    2) Click the Domain Control Panel link under your domain name.

    3) On your Domain Control Panel, click View Your Authorization Code.

    4) On the View Your Authorization Code page, you'll see your domain's

unique authorization code. We recommend printing this code for your

records, as you'll need it if you decide to transfer.

Make sure that you wait on canceling your account until you are sure

that the transfer's successful. You can check the status with the new

provider, and Yahoo! will also send an email when the transfer goes

    through.

Please Note: According to ICANN policy, a domain cannot be transferred

within 60 days of registration. This is standard practice for all

registrars. If you would like to review the policy, please view the

    following URL:

    http://www.icann.org/tlds/agreements/ver...

    ]

They'll need to do the following to smoothly transfer their domain:

    1. Make sure it's been at least 60 days after your domain registration

    date.

In accordance with ICANN rules, you cannot transfer your domain to

another provider until 60 days after your domain registration date.

    2. Check that your domain is unlocked.

For your security, locked domains cannot be transferred. If your domain

is locked, visit your Domain Control Panel and click the "Edit Domain

    Locking" link.

    3. Make sure that your WHOIS Admin contact is current.

    4. Get your authorization code.

To find your authorization code, head to your Domain Control Panel, and

click the View Your Authorization Code link. On this page, you'll see

your unique domain authorization code. Print this code, as you'll need

it to give to your new provider. See the below screenshot.

    Note:

Customers with domains ending in .com or .net currently do not need an

authorization code to transfer their domains and will not see this task

    on their Domain Control Panel.

    5. Contact your new provider/registrar.

When you're ready, contact your new provider to begin the transfer

process. Be sure to have your authorization code handy, as your new

provider will need it to verify the move. (Note that customers with

domains ending in .com or .net do not currently need their authorization

    code to transfer.)

Keep in mind that Yahoo! does not automatically cancel your service when

you transfer your domain. If you no longer want to use Yahoo!, you must

cancel your service to prevent further service fees (we recommend doing

this after you've confirmed your transfer is complete).

    Note:

Some providers cannot manage domain registrations. However, if you'd

still like to use your domain with this kind of provider, you can

redirect, or redelegate, your Yahoo! name servers to point to that

provider. If you do this, you will continue to manage your domain

through Yahoo!, so you will need to keep your Yahoo! Domains service

    active.

    6. Do Not cancel your Yahoo! Account until the transfer is completed and

it is confirmed that transfer was successful.

Option II: If you want to transfer the hosting of your domain:

    --------------------------------------...

I understand that you want to transfer your website to another host

provider. I will be glad to assist you in this issue.

I would like to inform you that in order to transfer your website to

another host provider, you donot need approval from Yahoo!. You simply

need to change the nameservers of your domain to your new host's

    nameservers.

    *Please note:

The "Change Nameservers" feature is only available for domain names that

are registered through Yahoo!, and are currently under Yahoo's! reseller

list.  Changing (re-delegating) your domain's nameservers away from

Yahoo! will render all services for your account inoperative.  You may

continue to manage your WHOIS contact information through Yahoo! and we

will continue to renew your annual domain registration.

If you would like to proceed with the change, you can utilize the

"Change Nameservers" feature within your Domain Control Panel.

You only need to enter the host name of the nameservers you want your

domain name to be hosted with. The net addresses or IP addresses of the

nameservers should not be added into the available fields.

    To change nameservers:

    1. Sign in to your Yahoo! Web Hosting account at:

          http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/webhostin...

    2. Click the "Domain Control Panel" link for the account you wish to

    edit.

    3. Click the "Manage Advanced DNS Settings" link.

    4. Click the "Change Nameservers" button.

    5. Replace the primary and secondary nameservers with the nameservers

    your host provided.

    6. Click the "Submit" button.

You return to the Advanced DNS Settings page and your nameservers appear

updated in the Nameservers section. While your changes will appear in

your nameservers within minutes, please be aware that it can take 24-48

hours for changes to records to be propagated to all nameservers

    throughout the Internet.

To reset nameservers to the default settings:

    1. Click the "Reset to Default" button in the nameservers section.

    2. Confirm your choice by clicking "Reset to Default".

Please be aware that it can take 24-48 hours for new records to be

propagated to all name servers throughout the Internet.

However, I would recommend you to create a backup of all the files &

emails before changing the nameservers of your Yahoo! Web Hosting

account. You may use the following features to take the backup of your

    data:

    i) Mail Archive (for email backup)

    ii) FTP (for file backup)

iii) Download files through File manager

    Following are the details:

    i) Mail Archive: Yahoo! Business Email's archiving feature allows you to

save email messages from your mailbox to your computer's hard drive

using the Webmail interface. (POP mail users can download and save their

messages using a POP mail client.)

    To archive your messages:

    1. Click on the "Mail Options" link in the upper-right corner of a Mail

page, then "Archive Messages," located under the "Management" heading.

    2. From the Archive Messages page, use the "Folder" pull-down menu to

choose which folder you want to archive.

    3. Choose a date constraint using the "Date" pull-down menus.

    4. Click "Continue" to see an estimate of your archive size and download

time. Please note: Archive time depends on the number of messages in

    your folder.

    5. Click "Download Archive" to download a .zip file (a compacted archive

of your folder) to your computer, or choose "Save to Yahoo! Briefcase"

    to save your archive online.

    6. To view the contents of the .zip file, you'll need to open, or

"unzip," it using a compression utility such as WinZip.

ii) FTP Utility: The easiest and most reliable way to download your

files from your Web Hosting account is to use an FTP client program. To

access your account through FTP, you will first need an FTP program. For

information on where to obtain a free FTP program, please visit:

       http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/webhosting...

Once you have downloaded and installed an FTP program, please review the

    instructions at:

      http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/webhosting...

You will need the following information:

    * Address/Host Name: ftp.domain-name.com

    * User Name: Yahoo! ID@domain-name.com

    * Password: yourYahoo!IDpassword

Replace "domain-name.com" with your own domain name. Replace "Yahoo! ID"

with your own Yahoo! ID (the name that appears before "@yahoo.com").

Replace "yourYahoo!IDpassword" with your own Yahoo! ID password. Please

be sure that all of the information you type into the Address/Host Name

and User Name fields are in lowercase. Your Password is case sensitive

    and must be entered correctly.

You don't need to enter a remote directory, as your user name and

password will automatically bring you to your root directory.

FTP has multiple modes. If your FTP client supports passive mode, please

try using that mode. Most companies use some level of firewall to

protect network security. If you are behind a firewall, you may want to

try the "passive" mode as well.

For additional help, see the FTP Help Page at:

       http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/webhosting...

iii) Download files through File manager

To back up an HTML file:

       2. Click on the "File Manager" link.

       3. Select the file you wish to download.

       4. Click on the "Edit" button at the top of your File Manager.

       5. Highlight all of the code on the page and then select "Edit" and

then "copy" from your Internet browser toolbar at the top of your

    screen.

       6. You have now saved all of the code from your page.

       7. Open a text editor on your computer (such as Notepad, WordPad, or

    Simple text).

       8. Select "Edit" and then "paste" from your text editor toolbar.

       9. All of your code from your file in your File Manager should appear

    in this file.

       10. Select "file" and then "save as" from your text editor toolbar.

       11. Next to the words "File Name", name your file with the extension:

         .html

    For example:

          yourfile.html

       12. Next to the words "Save as type", select the option of "All file

    types".

    * Please note: To save images from a page, right-click on the image and

choose "Save Image As" or "Save Picture As", depending on your browser.
