Ok, if I am a co-signer on a bonds for someone and I decided that its time for me to take my name off of it....can I? The person I co-signed for promised me they would pay it back themselves. Now they are dodging and I'm not paying for theirs mistakes.

  1. I don't know anything about it, but there's no way they're going to let you off.  That's what a co-signer is for, to pay when the person decides to run.  This was the whole reason why they required a co-signer.

  2. When you signed to bond, you PERSONALLY guaranteed the accused would appear in court.  The only way to remove yourself is to ensure the person appears.  That can be done by putting them back in jail.

You are not paying for THEIR mistake, or their crime.  You are paying for YOUR mistake when you guaranteed they would appear in court.

  3. Revoke the bond.

    They will pick them up!
