How do I care for a pet sponge?

You are all too funny. I guess I need to get a saltwater tank. And maybe square pants. Actually a starfish was a good idea.

dont get him wet or he will mold and develop a nasty smell. also dont let him near the sink or insight cause someone might try to use him to clean the dishes GL>

Sponges require saltwater.

Sponges consume bacteria in the tank (mostly from fish) and rely on filter feeding, so your tank needs a good, strong current.

Sponges are not very sensitive to dramatic water temperature changes, but too much salinity (salt in the water) can hurt them, so measure aquarium salt wisely.

Sponges are alive and require a special plant light you can buy at several pet stores.

Sponges are sensative to air and must not be exposed to it. During water changes, it is best to have a container already prepared for the sponge's removal.

They generally feed them selves as long as bacteria is present (which previously said comes from fish, so have fish with the sponge).
