How do I care for braids?

Question

I recently have gotten the chance to have my hair braided over the weekend, but I am still unsure on how to properly take care of them. I want them to stay strong and un-nappy for Monday (when school starts). I do know to keep them dry and use a du rag when sleeping... am I lost on anything, and can anyone tell me a bit more about caring for braids?

careful with sleeping and yea were a bandanna and when washing ur hair go along the braids not against it and it will start to fizz up so use d-fizz serum
