How do I care for my highlighted hair?

Question

I have blonde hair, and I got highlights and lowlights in my hair. How should I care for it, I don't want my highlights turning brassy :S

I go swimming alot: will the chlorine turn my hair brassy? Also I am constantly in the sun, I live in a place where it is summer all year round.

Also I'm using Fructis Garnier colour last, is that fine?

I don't care if my hair gets lighter, that's fine, I just don't want it to become darker/orangy.
