I just purchased a Robinson Crabapple Tree from our local nursery but it was in the "plant hospital" so I'm not sure if it's healthy enough to plant outside and/or the best way to care for it??? Right now it basically looks like a 4' tall stick with several healthy looking leaves growing just above the soil level in the pot. The rest of the tree has no branches and no leaves...however, it doesn't seems dry or brittle so I'm guessing it's not sick yet but that I'll need to take specific care of it to nurse it back to health? Any suggestions? We live in Zone 3 so would it be in my best interest to raise it indoors and then trim the tree down to the healthy leaves? If so, what time of year should I do this, etc, etc??? :o(
